On Oct.30, 2015, I was picking my granddaughter up from school at General John A Logan Attendance Center in Murphysboro. We were walking to the parking lot, the sidewalk was crowded, my foot slipped off the edge of the sidewalk and into a hole, causing me to fall face first onto the side walk. My hand and wrist started to swell, the next morning I went into the school office they had me to sign a general liability accident report,which they did not give me a copy of. From there I went to St.Joseph Hospital where numerous x-rays were taken of my left hand. My wrist was sprained, I had scrapes and bruises. I wore a splint for two weeks until the swelling and bruising went away. I have called the schools District Office, I believe three times to ask for a claim number to no result. Nancy Ward, said she did not feel it was their fault because I wasn't on the sidewalk, I explained to her again what happened. Several days later the hole was filled in, now each time it rains, the hole becomes larger, it is like a small sink hole,actually at this time there are 3 holes near the sidewalk, the hole I slipped in is now about 8-10" wide, 12-15" long and about 12-15" deep, it is located against the sidewalk and near a drain pipe, a number of people have commented on how deep they are and that they could be of danger to a child. Where I have attempted to contact the District Office 186 more then once I feel I have been left no choice but to seek legal counsel. I can provide pictures of the holes showing where they are located, also the school itself has cameras facing that area. I should mention I am a 63 year old female, I was not horse playing when I fell. The District Office has not shown any concern over this matter other then to have me sign the General Liabilty accident report. Thank you for your time and possible consideration with this matter.
